This Heart, A Coffin
music by Daniel N
lyrics by Mick Moss/ Daniel N
How cold are your hands
How cold is your glance
When you look at me
The darkness has taken you whole
Don't pretend you can't see
Suffering into my eyes
How could life be
When my heart was torn
Throw one self
The ghost and the dead
Fighting a cross
There's nothing here
But the empty shell of what was lost
All the stars that shine
In the deepest night
Drown the light into sorrow
Become the dark
To the sky and back
Until the end
Bring the light into darkness
And close your eyes
Throw my name to the ground
Feel the strength of hate that shatters
Will these nightmares ever end
When my everything dies
Pour that pain in my heart
And keep it with you shattered
Would I ever live again
My life would be the same
Finally I've placed my heart in a coffin
For that is where it belongs
The black fog will surround it
And will keep it cold
Just the way you left it
And it will remind me of everything
I've lost
And how, how can I not end my life
When you are the razor slicing my veins?
Now there is no going back
Not to what used to be
Hold me, my pride that kept on dying
To let you exist

An absolutely amazing album that reaches you to the bottom of the abyss. Gaia takes you by the hand, tells you that you're not alone in this, the pain is over, the misunderstanding of your pain is over and accompanied by keyboards, violins, acoustic guitars, cello and amazing vocals, she pulls you out of the disgusting mire of your mind and together you embark on a journey of melancholy, despondency, hope, pessimism and the seasons. tenebriscaedes

This was truly a revelation. I was getting started with funeral doom, working on something with my headphones on... Then came Déluge... my jaw actually dropped, I stopped what I was doing and, wide-eyed, just listened to the track, baffled and amazed. After the album was over (I never do this), I went to lay down with my headphones to enjoy it over again.
I rarely heard (and felt) this much power and emotion in an album. Until I find something better, this is my landmark for peak funeral doom. fluo

I like it because it bears all the familiar trademarks of the band, because I hold Saturnus in great esteem, because there are no two singers like him and because, like anyone else. they keep writing those beautiful, tranquil, colourful songs in which I let me drift in delight. Bertrand Marchal
